A CEO turned author and business psychologist, Ian helps leaders and organisations achieve more by doing less. His expertise is the way we work in the 21st century: e.g. being connected 24/7, long-hours culture, email addiction. His book The Activity Illusion is rated “a book we all need to read” by the Chartered Management Institute. Ian has written for the Guardian, has appeared on an ITV1 Tonight special on long working hours and is a regular speaker at industry events. Through his consultancy, he helps clients improve effectiveness and performance and reduce stress and staff churn.
Ian graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford with a degree in English Lit. His career of twenty-plus years includes senior corporate roles in the telecoms and payments industries along with leading a number of start-ups as chief executive. Most recently he was founding CEO of AIM listed mobile technology start-up, Broca plc.
Ian has a MSc in Organisational Behaviour from Birkbeck College, University of London. He is on the steering committee of the Information Overload Research Group and is a member of the Association of Business Psychologists and the CIPD.
With sales consultant Mark Williams, Ian in January 2012 co-founded Sales-Mind, specialising in mental performance for sales people.
